Background - The North Pacific Coast Guard Forum (NPCGF) was initiated by the Japan Coast Guard in 2000 as venue to foster multilateral cooperation through the sharing on matters related to combined operations. The Forum has since become a platform for the exchange of information related to: illegal drug trafficking, maritime security, fisheries law enforcement, illegal migration and Maritime Domain Awareness. The current membership includes agencies from Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Russia and the United States. This year, Pacific Unity 2009 is focused on demonstrating the partnership's ability to provide maritime assets to assist a fictitious country, Pacifica, located in the vicinity of the (actual) United States Pacific Northwest.
Scope Statement - COMPACAREA is hosting assets from all partner nations in the Group/Air Station Port Angeles AOR Sunday, 23AUG09. This is intended to promote multi-national interoperability in the USCG Sector Seattle AOR. Members of the North Pacific Coast Guard Forum will answer the call for humanitarian aid and demonstrate the ability to work together to deliver Aids to Navigation, Search and Rescue and Port State/Force Protection in support of a fellow partner State.
