Down to work. The seven working groups have spent a good majority of the day discussing myriad North Pacific Coast Guard Forum initiatives -- developing a detailed operations plan for this summer's combined operations, refining procedures for information exchange, and identifying new areas for the six countries to expand maritime cooperation.

The depth of the discussions and energy being put forth is great to see and indicates that there should be some solid products to brief at tomorrow's plenary session. The delegates' hard work today will be rewarded tomorrow with a welcoming dinner hosted by Vice Adm. Charles Wurster and a performance by the Coast Guard Swing Band.

Heads of delegations continued their discussions today during tours of the Washington State Ferry System, security operations at the port of Seattle, and the Chittenden Locks A very busy day for all.

Tomorrow will be an extremely busy one with continued work group discussions and the formal plenary session to refine the work group presentations for the San Francisco summit in September.
More tomorrow.
